Hydroquinone is widely being used in the fields of the therapeutics, cosmetics and industry, but allergic contact dermatitis caused by thi¡× chemical is infrequent. We have seen a patient with allergic contact dermatitis induced by hydroquinone, who was receiving melasma treatment, developed erythematous papules and patches two days after a topical application of hydroquinone containing preparation. The major ingredients of this topical preparation were hydroquinone, dioxybenzone, oxybenzone, desoxymethasone (and/or fluocortolone) and tretinoin. She showed positive reactions on the patch tests to 1% and 4% hydroquinone.
